What more can he do to you? You're already DA'd and therefore anathema to all the goodie-goodie JWs.

1984 WT cover -- Watchtower's Final Failed Prediction?
by FatFreek 2005 inthe infamous cover of that 1984 watchtower (27 years ago) was perhaps the last prediction / prophecy of the watchtower society.
will there be any more or have they finally learned their lesson?
some think they are like a race-track junkie and are addicted to predictions.

Hey, FatFreek, why are the Steinmans shown as "Mr. and "Mrs."? Where they not bona fide JWs?

WT articles that make you go, "WTF?"
by undercover inmarch 1, 2011 wt kool aid edition.... the article: does the bible condemn gambling.
notice the highlighted boxes.... first the indication that the catholic church does not consider gambling itself a sin... and then challenges that because no scriptural passages are given in proof of their assertion.. the very next column though, the wts admits that the bible does not directly mention gambling.
so, um, how do you expect the catholics to come up with scriptures if there are none?.

Yet they would have us bet our lives and throw away any aspirations of personal achievement on their flimsy "you won't die, much less grow old in this old system" pot of (fool's) gold!

Verifiable Former Bethelite Willing to Answer questions
by Uzzah ini am a former active poster here, former elder, former bethelite and pretty much known by people on the xjw boards since the mid 90's.
gawd that makes me sound old.. i notice that a great deal of uproar is being made by allegations of a hide in the closet alleged bethelite.
to counter the damage caused by this claim, i am happy to address any questions people may have about bethel, protocol, etc.. i was at the canada branch for 11 years, worked in multiple areas including the legal department, service desk and writing dept.

Based on my experience, which predates the current GB structure, none of the Society bigwigs did much door knocking, if at all. While in Bethel I was assigned to the Brooklyn Heights congregation and assisted in the compilation of the field service reports. The reports I saw from Knorr and other high-level staff never exceed low-mid single digits, more than likely obtained from giving talks. I have no reason to believe it's any different today. I remember that when I was on weekend reception desk duty at 124 Columbia Heights, on Sunday I would pick up an order of seven or eight Sunday New York Times for delivery to people like Grant Suiter, George Couch, etc., and saw them around the building relaxing. We used to call them the "Ban-Lon" Brigade ("Ban-Lon" being a popular leisure-time polo shirt worn at the time, a la Izod), reference to their weekend dress habits. Of course, there were exceptions but they were, just that -- exceptions.

Can the Earth's Ecology Withstand A "New World" as Conceived By JWs?
by Room 215 ina recent national geographic article pointed out the ominous implications of any continued explosive global growth population even as it approaches 7 billion... what about the planet's capacity to house anything like the numbers jws expect to see resurrected onto their "new earth?
".

and that's before such issues as the rate of rain forest deforestation, global warming and rise of ocean waters, the implications of rising consumerism and aspirations in previously "have-not" third world countries, etc., etc, are factored into the equation.

"Do you believe the FDS is God's Organization on Earth?"
by sabastious inthis question has been the bane of many fade attempts.
once the question is asked there is no return... because if you answer no the hammer comes down hard.. i have not been asked it yet, but i am sure it is to come.. i think a lot about the question because i know how important it is to the witnesses.
without a "channel of communication from god" they are nothing but a bunch of nuts in their own minds.

Tell them the questioner that by positing that question he failed the "idolatry test;" if you told them that your faith in God and Jesus were wavering, they would probably offer to work with (study with) you; is you say the same with respect to the FDS in answer, that would just as likely provoke a much less sympathetic response. The question reveals their true priority.... uncritical belief in the organization transcends faith in God and Christ, however strenuously they may deny it.
